Request a File from External Users in Centrestack

CentreStack is an enterprise file sync, share, and collaboration platform. Security plays a key role in large enterprises. Many users have a need to request a file from external users but for security reasons users do not want to share the entire folder with external users for them to upload a file into. In Centrestack, users can now request a file using 'Request A File' feature which only allows them to upload a file through a file request invitation sent via email instead of giving external users any company folder. Most of the time the customers network is away from the MSP network and hence they should be able to migrate the file server shares over a WAN connection. Using Centrestack's file server agent software on a file server administrators can select 'Migrate Existing Share via Server Agent' option in Centrestack to migrate an existing file server share along with all the security permissions. They wanted a cloud platform which will allow them to migrate existing shares to the cloud without a requirement to re-create all security permissions. They also wanted to allow users to access the data without VPN. CentreStack now makes it very easy for IT to migrate the on-premise shares to the cloud including permissions. The migration wizard in CentreStack web portal allows administrators to migrate a share along with all the security permissions. Attaching Existing Shares from File Server in Centrestack

Set Global Notification When Sharing a File and Folder in Centrestack

In a collaborative environment it is important for administrators and users to see who is downloading and making changes to the shared contents. Centrestack has a built-in feature that allows users to set global notification and receive change notifications through email when shared folders and files are being downloaded or are being changed by other users. Users can enable the feature once and it will be set for shares further on. The users can set either one notification "send email notification when files are being downloaded' or " Send email notification when folder and files are being changed" or can set it to receive both email notifications. Expiration Time for Shared Folders and Files in Centrestack

It has many enterprise features including the ability for administrators to set expiration time for shared folders and files. For security reasons administrators do not want users to share their data with other users for more than the required time needed for them to access the shared contents. Once the expiration time is set by the administrator, it will be configured for both the administrator and users who are sharing the contents with others. Access file server network share without using VPN is an important use case for self-hosted file sync and share solution. CentreStack is a self-hosted file sync and share solution built on top of Microsoft Web Platform so natively it works really well with Active Directory and Network Share. The end result is that active directory users can use their Active Directory identity to access protected resources such as files and folders inside network shares, from web browser, from mobile devices, and from remote PC and Mac without using VPN. Managing File Versions in CentreStack

Versioning plays a key role to make sure files modified by users are kept in versioned files meaning each edit to a file has its own versioned copy. Users can manage revisions from revisions history window or from manage revisions window, where users have the option to delete, add, and restore file versions or merge all versions of a file into one master version. Show Tutorial Page for Non Admin User in CentreStack

It has many enterprise features including the ability for administrators to enable the setting to show tutorial page for non admin user. Once the setting is enabled and the non admin user logs into the system for the first time, the user will be able to take the tour of the product and get an overview of the web portal usage. The overview will explain what some of the buttons and icons mean and do, such as, upload and new folder, refresh folder, browse parent folder, tree view icon and etc. Users will also get to see from where they can go to management console and manage team users. They will also see the options to create team folders, share folders and files, download and install clients from web portal. User Must Login to Access Shared Files and Folders

Active Directory Users Accessing Their Home Directory without VPN

One of the use case for CentreStack is to allow users to access network shares and their home directories without using VPN (virtual private network) and access the network shares and home directories from mobile devices and remote locations. This article discuss two different ways to setup Active Directory user access to their home directory. First, you will need to connect the Active Directory. After connect the Active Directory via LDAP, the Active Directory users will be able to access their storage locations using their own AD credentials.

File Search Options in Centrestack
